From 1980s !
It's regarded as a 20" extension, actual length is 19-3/4" so you are not surprised.

hould last a lifetime with proper use and care.
There's some very small spots on the shaft, which I assume are small areas of plating loss near the socket end (see last pic).  If you put a good coat of high quality wax over it or occasionally wipe with WD-40, it should hold it in check from getting any worse.
