  • Condition: This hardcover book has edgewear to the covers and the front cover is curved on the outer edge from being wet at one time. Outer edges of the pages show some waving and staining from being moist, but no pages are marked, ripped, have tipped corners or are stuck together - all are legible. There is a name and address in ink on the front free-endpaper and the inside hinge on the back cover is split, but the binding is still tight. It comes from a smoke-free environment, please see the pictures.

    This is the 11th printing dated March 1951 of the 244 page first hardcopy edition of the Singer Sewing Book copyright 1949, written by Mary Brooks Picken and published by the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
    Picken was an authority on dress, fabric, design, and sewing; this reference
    book includes proper sewing technique covering everything from dressmaking to rugmaking.  This book was inherited from a family member.  It is illustrated with black and white drawings and full-color pictures, measures about 8 inches wide, 11 inches tall, 1 1/8 inches thick and will be in a protective sleeve and shipped via USPS Media Mail in a cushioned envelope.
