MANUAL RESET. This temperature sensor has a red reset button in the center.
It stops the power supply in case of overheating. It requires a manual reset to allow resuming power.
A manual reset limit switch operates like a regular limit switch. But, after reaching the designated limit temperature, the switch will stay in
OFF position until a technician reset it
. They are the last safety element in a system; if they interrupt the power supply there is something wrong with the system.
This is the reason why they not automatically reset, a technician need to inspect and repair the system.
Many systems have more than one high limit switch, sometimes an automatic reset and a manual reset.
Do NEVER bypass a limit switch - It is a safety device to prevent a possible house fire!!!
