The 'AR-108' is highly popular FM/AM palm sized scanner covering the VHF and Civil Airband 108 to 180 MHz. thus allowing it to pick up a wide variety of broadcasts and gives the best possible receive sensitivity in the Civil Airband range.
The AR-108 is arranged in 2 bands, 108-136.975MHz for the Civil Airband and 136-180MHz for the remaining VHF band, each with 99 memories.
Frequencies are easily changed by use of the up/down buttons on the selected digit. It holds a 99 memory bank for each of these bands, which are set independently. There is also a facility to 'lock in' frequencies in the memories to pass on.
Two AA batteries are utilised in this receiver, with a 4-step battery level indicator and a low battery warning. To protect the AR108 from data loss, EEPROM's are employed to retain memories regardless of battery condition.
The 'Dual Watch' facility allows you to keep track of activity on your most important channel, while monitoring other transmissions.
The 'Scan' facility searches ar 10 channels per second and a 'Programmable Search' enables you to set the upper and lower limits of a specific frequency range for easier searching.
