    ELVIS PRESLEY ~ RARE VINTAGE OLD ORIGINAL "TCB" CLOTH PATCH
    This week on Ebay I am offering up this cool OLD Elvis Presley TCB patch.
    This was found inside the gatefold of an old Elvis record I purchased as part of a collection recently. It was a mixed collection of late 60s and early 70s records so I suspect the patch is from around that time, but not 100% sure. It certainly looks old and vintage, like it's been around for some time.
    It is made of what appears to be thick durable cloth, almost canvas like.
    It is 8" long and a little over 4" wide at the top.
    It has TCB at the top, and 'For Elvis' at the bottom.
    The top has a cloud-like shape and comes to a point at the bottom under the red lighning bolt.

    CONDITION:
    This old patch is in nice condition considering it's age.
    There is a small circular 'stain' to the left of the lightning bolt. It looks like the remnants of an old price sticker. I didn't try to clean it off. It looks superficial and would likely come off with some rubbing alcohol, soap and TLC but I'll leave that up to the winning bidder. I was afraid of damaging the red color.
    The red color is still bold and bright. The color has been protected from fading all these years by being inside the record I found it in.
    The very lower 'tip' is a little curled but it lays flat easily and has plenty of 'glue' on the back, so it would iron on flat.
    The back has a very coarse, woven, cloth-like appearance. It's a very sturdy, durable looking patch and i suspect it was meant to be ironed on, rather than sewn on. Not 100% sure.

    ELVIS PRESLEY AND THE "TCB" LOGO
    As I'm sure you know if you're reading this, the initials TCB stand for "Taking Care of Business"
    "Taking Care of Business" was a personal mantra and approach to life for Elvis as well as his tight-knit group of associates, bodyguards, and confidantes that made up Elvis' inner circle, the 'Memphis Mafia.'
    "TCB" was a code word they used to get things done, and more importantly get them done the King's way.
    The story is that Elvis, with the help of his then wife, Priscilla, designed the logo. The lightning bolt on the logo meant “in a flash,” indicating Presley wanted the Memphis Mafia to do whatever he asked, right away.
    Elvis then had a noted Beverly Hills jeweler make gold necklaces with the TCB logo for all the male members of his 'mafia'
    The TCB logo was also used on several pieces of Presley's eccentric personal jewelry, most notably his TCB ring and necklace. It was even
    emblazoned
    on the tail of his Plane.
    Elvis famously returned to live performance with the classic televised concert, the NBC “68 Comeback Special.”
    After the
    success
    of that TV show, he quit making movies and returned to performing live. He had to put a band together and hooked up with his old buddy James Burton.
    Burton pulled together some of the finest musicians he knew and formed what Elvis called "The TCB Band." They were soon selling out residencies at the International Hotel in Las Vegas during the summer of 1969. They then took the show on the road. Elvis was back!
    The TCB band was full of great musicians who gave Elvis' older music the new modern sound it needed to be played in front of a new generation of fans. The band included James Burton on guitar, Glen Hardin on keys and the great rhythm section of Ronnie Tutt on drums, and Jerry Scheff on bass. They took the 'TCB' mantra to heart.
    They were Presley's backing band until his death in 1977. TCB is even on Elvis' tombstone at Graceland.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    They still make TCB patches and other collectibles with TCB on them. They sell them at Graceland, the RNRoll Hall of Fame and other places. Why buy a new, modern, patch made overseas when you can have this great, vintage, original patch from the very beginnings of the TCB Band.
