Bauer Pottery Ringware 11" White Dinner Plate Underglaze Art by Jalan w Bird

Description

This is one of the better works by this painter that I have seen, with a colorful fantasy bird. As I have heard, a boxcar of vintage Bauer Pottery unfired blanks was found in the early 1980s near Escondido, California. The lot consisted mainly of flower pot liners, oval vegetable bowls and these 11" dinner plates. They were later glazed mostly black or white, with many hand decorated under the glaze with Mexican style images, by an artist named Jalan. This plate
is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. See my other listings for a decorated flower pot liner, also listed this week.
